Below is the outline for an argumentative essay on zoos:
Introduction – What have we been learning about? What are zoos?
Paragraph one – Arguments ‘FOR’ zoos. What is good about them? How do they help people and animal? (FACTS AND OPINIONS)
Paragraph two – Arguments ‘AGAINST’ zoos. What is bad about them? Are animals happy?
Conclusion – What is your opinion? Are they good or bad? Closing sentence.
Remember – This must be your own work! The best pieces will be put up on display!!!
This competition will run every week and it is a grammar competition!
Rules:
Each week you must log on to this blog and post a sentence that uses past tense verbs and adverbs.
Example: Miss Anna quickly ran away from the elephant as he lifted up his trunk to hit her!
The more exciting the sentence the more chance you have of winning!

Dear Parents,
In conjunction with our Language Arts lessons we are starting a project on reading. This project is entitled ‘Reading Challenge’ and it is designed to encourage children of all ages to read more books! We are looking to crown the top reader in each class and also the top class in each grade level. To be awarded this honor pupils will need to read as many books as possible! Each book pupils read should be accompanied by a book report! (More information can be found on homeroom teacher’s blogs).

Grade three – Pupils need to read books that are a challenge for them but that they understand. Book reports should show at least three main events that happen in the story. Every satisfactory book report handed in will gain the student 10 points (one star) the student with the most stars wins!!
